City of Dripping Springs
The City of Dripping Springs was the 1st community in Texas and 6th in the world to be designated as a Dark Sky Community by IDA. Dripping Springs partnered with IDA Texas to host The Better Lights for Better Nights Conference in 2014 and was one of the hosts for 2016’s Texas Night Sky Festival™. Plans are underway to make the Texas Night Sky Festival™ an annual event with the 2017 Festival set for March 18th.
Hays County Chapter Texas Master Naturalist
Hays County Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist partnered with IDA Texas on the Better Lights for Better Nights Conference in 2014 and is one of the hosts for 2016’s Texas Night Sky Festival™. Hays County Master Naturalists and IDA Texas jointly conceived the Be A Star Award for having Neighbor, Nature, and Night Sky Lighting.
Hill Country Alliance
The Hill Country Alliance Night Sky Team shares many goals with IDA Texas. Numerous members of IDA Texas who live in the Texas Hill Country are also members of the Hill Country Alliance Night Sky Team.
The University of Texas McDonald Observatory
McDonald Observatory is a corporate member of IDA Texas and a long-standing supporter of programs geared to protect the night sky.
Texas State Parks Dark Skies Program
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has partnered with McDonald Observatory and IDA Texas to reduce light pollution and promote stargazing, and other night-time programs, in Texas State Parks.
