Debbie Moran shared the video from the recent Houston City Council meeting re the LED lighting discussion.  Three speakers were given a total of 41 minutes!  They got a good result and were able to eventually help the Council members understand the issue.  Mayor Turner did agree to look further into the options for LED lighting.  The speakers included Jonathan Day, a lawyer upset with the lighting in the Heights area who had little prior knowledge of the technical aspects of lighting, but has proven to be superb at finding documents and getting information from Davis, CA where excellent lighting was put in after a citizen protest and from CenterPoint Energy here.  Debbie spoke after him and then they had a surprise visit from Bill Wren of McDonald Observatory known for his work that protects the skies of west Texas and his help across the state.  Even the most skeptical Council members seemed to be convinced in the end.  Apparently many had not looked at the advance e-mail they were sent with supporting information.

Here is the Public Comment portion of the video.  The LED discussion begins at 37:50 and ends at 78:20.
